On a sunny afternoon in Pearse Stadium St. James Minors beat Corofin by 4 points. It was a hard match with some great scores. Corofin with the wind built an early lead of 5 points and hit the post also. Then a specular goal was well finished by Sean Glynn to put a bit of smacht on the Corofin boys. St. James never looked back and were behind by only 3 points having played into a gale force wind at half-time. In the second half St. James scored 9 points and were unlucky not to get another goal as the shot hit the crossbar. The game finished St James's 1-11 to Corofin 1-7. This was a very sweet victory as we had to beat a team from the top Club in the County. Martin Collins of Corofin, well known to St. James had the unenvyable task of giving the Corofin salutation in the victorious dressing room after the match. We hope that this star studdied team of St. James's go on further and bring Senior glory to our Parishes and Community in the years ahead. These players have all the talents that any Club in Ireland could wish for. Celebrations including a few tunes on the tin whistle lasted well into the night and we gave thanks to the Good God this morniing at Church to have the GAA live and well in our Club 125 years after it was founded on this day.
